About

"A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away."

- Antoine de Saint-Exup'ery

History

Where did the name come from?

The name came quite humorously from a misreading from the familiar text you add to a link to make it open the mail application. mailto:mark@mail.com. Mark had believed for years that mailto was pronounced as one word and never realised that it was "mail-to" when told the correct pronunciation he had found it so funny that the name stuck. Knowing no one else would think so absurdly, Terri and Mark agreed to go under the name "mailto" (Pronounce it as if it has no letter 'i' and you'll get it)

When did you begin mailto designs?

2006

Discussions where made in early 2006, between three university colleagues. One subsequently decided it wasn’t for her. Terri and Mark then decided to make it official in September 2006 when they made the purchase of the domain name. .In July both Terri and Mark when on placements. Terri went to the Odyssey Pavilion to work as the graphic designer. Mark started in the Irish News as web designer. The team is currently working on a part time basis

2007

In January of 2007 we recruited another member, William, who has a HNC in Software Engineering to the team.

Future...

Once Terri and Mark graduate they hope to move into full time work with mailto designs.
